Change at the top of the Alpine Brigade "Julia" of the Army

(To Army Majority State)
27/09/24

In the sixteenth-century cloister of the “Di Prampero” barracks, home of the “Julia” brigade command, the handover took place between General Del Favero, the outgoing one, and General Maioriello, the incoming one. Del Favero from Cadore commanded for over a year, bringing the Julia to an excellent level of preparation, thanks to numerous and demanding training activities.

In his greeting speech, at the end of a very long applause, in an unconventional manner, General Del Favero underlined the main lessons and emotions of the mountain: from what you admire from the top of the paths to the mountain peaks, to the maximum attention that must be paid when walking at high altitude, to walk in the mountains you must always have a goal to reach with sweat and effort that are repaid by the sensation of beauty and tranquility offered by the landscapes, finally, the main lesson for a mountaineer is given by the fact that the things to carry in the backpack must be very few only the essentials to avoid weighing down the back when moving.

The highest Italian military authority present, the commander of the Alpine Troops, Major General Michele Risi, former 42nd commander of the Alpine Brigade “Julia”, in his speech wished General Del Favero all the best for his future military career, complimenting him on the excellent work done.

General Risi wished General Maioriello good luck, certain that he will be able to face the period of command with the same determination as the commanders who preceded him.

The Alpine Brigade "Julia" is one of the large specialized units for mountain combat that the Armed Forces includes among its ranks.

Made up of regiments supported by volunteers on active and permanent service, it is the backbone of a large multinational unit, also composed of Slovenian and Hungarian units.

Located in Friuli Venezia Giulia, Veneto and Trentino Alto Adige, it is composed of a command unit, three basic weapon regiments, an artillery regiment, an engineer regiment and a logistics regiment.

Numerous civil, religious and military authorities wanted to demonstrate their feelings of closeness and affection to the Friulian Alpine troops on the most important occasion, that of the change of commander general, to underline the presence of the centenary Gold Medal for Military Valor, Prof. Paola Del Din always close to the brigade.

Also present was the Labaro of the National Alpine Association accompanied by the National President Eng. Sebastiano Favero, and by the presidents of the regional sections of the National Alpine Association and representatives of the Combatant and Armed Forces Associations.
