At the "Ugo Bartolomei" barracks in Cesano di Roma, the ceremony to change the commander of the Infantry School took place in the presence of the commander of training, specialization and doctrine of the Army, general Salvatore Camporeale.
After almost two years at the helm of the prestigious Institute, Brigadier General Roberto Viglietta entrusted the War Flag of the Infantry to the Parisian Eugenio Dessì.
General Viglietta, in his farewell speech, wished to thank the men and women of the Institute for the professionalism and self-denial shown during the development of all the training activities carried out and underlined that "If the mission of the School remains unchanged over time, the tasks constantly increase with the change in the operating environment in which our units must operate".
The general of the army corps Camporeale expressed words of satisfaction for the work and results achieved by General Viglietta and, in wishing General Dessì good work for the delicate task assumed, he underlined: "The enthusiasm, competence, passion and team spirit that characterize this splendid reality of the Army make the School the 'Mother House' of all the infantrymen".
The School is responsible for the preparation, qualification, specialist updating of military personnel belonging to the Infantry Weapon, for the experimentation and demonstration of materials and newly introduced weapon systems, as well as the reference body for the elaboration , the updating and development of specialty doctrinal publications.
