The first armored vehicles were delivered to the “Lancieri d'Aosta” regiment (6th) of Palermo Centaur 2, produced by the Iveco-Oto Melara consortium and intended to replace the version already in service in the departments of the Line Cavalry of the Army.

In the context of the process of technological development and modernization of the Armed Forces, the new land platform represents an exceptional step forward compared to the previous one. Centaur 1, in terms of power, observation, mobility, ergonomics, fire control and communication, as well as maximum crew protection.

The technology, of which the new armored Centaur 2 It is a clear expression, through a superior capacity for engagement and defense, and is the element of cohesion between modern combat units, for the achievement of military objectives.

The new vehicle will allow training personnel to practice by reconstructing complex realistic scenarios, without ever giving up the human element, around which the essential values ​​of a modern Army revolve.

Third-generation optics, high ballistic, anti-mine and anti-IED (Improvised Explosive Device) protection, 120/45 mm smoothbore semi-automatic cannon, HITROLE-L remote-controlled machine gun, long range thanks to the new 720 Hp IVECO engine, are just some of the innovative features of this domestically built armored vehicle, capable of intervening in any operational scenario.
