The second edition of the "Babbocopter" Christmas event was held today at the Fausto Pesci airport of Bologna, home of the 2 ° aviation support regiment of the "Orion" Army.
In the presence of the regimental commander Colonel Vincenzo Recano, the event was designed to bring together the families of the military on the occasion of the upcoming Christmas festivities and to raise funds for the purchase of toys and miscellaneous materials for the children of the Hematology Department and Pediatric oncology at the Sant'Orsola Hospital in Bologna.
The event, particularly awaited, wanted and felt at the end of a full year of commitments and intense activity, saw the absolute protagonists of this moment of meeting and fun, the children, surprised and amazed, admired Santa Claus and his helper, the Green Elf, get off an AB 205 helicopter with the bag loaded with candy, gifts and a small box for collecting the letters.
To entertain the little guests and their parents also the intervention of specialized staff of the non-profit organization "La Sorgente" which after a brief theoretical introduction on the airfield, simulated a rescue medical intervention, with a "spinal" stretcher, through the use of an AB 205 helicopter, reflecting the ability of the Army Aviation to operate at any time, to serve the community in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.
The event continued, in a multi-purpose classroom with the demonstration of some maneuvers for airway disobstruction and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in pediatric patients. At the end the long-awaited playful moment, with lots of games, music and entertainment. The enthusiastic and excited children spent a few hours, surrounded by a magical atmosphere, in a healthy environment rich in family values.
The day ended with a final toast and lots of fun for the little ones, sealing an important gathering moment for the military personnel of the 2 ° Orione, actively inserted into the Bolognese social fabric, with the hope that the 2020 is for everyone a year of real satisfaction with the achievement of new tangible goals.
