Change of the commander of the logistic regiment "Ariete"

(To "Ariete" Armored Brigade)
05/10/19

Yesterday morning at the "Baldassarre" barracks of Maniago the rotation ceremony of the commander of the "Aries" logistic regiment was held. Colonel Marco Fiore was replaced by Carlo Tornaboni, from the 15 Supply Center of Padua Army.

Colonel Fiore leaves the regiment after almost a year of command. He had taken over the 7 December 2018, following the return of the unit from the “Trident Juncture” exercise in Norway.

During this period, Colonel Fiore firmly led the department in providing logistical support to the “Ariete” brigade and in the numerous training and operational activities that saw him busy. Among these, it is worth mentioning the participation in the cycle of activities related to the maintenance of operational readiness for the NATO need called VJTF (Very High Readiness Joint Task Force) and the consistent support provided to the Aries assets that participated in the months of May and last June at the important “Dragon 2019” exercise in Poland.

On the front of the activities carried out in the national territory, the regiment's structures are currently engaged in the "Safe Roads" Operation in the square of Tarvisio and, at the same time, the department is providing logistical support to the weapon field of theRam currently underway at the Teulada shooting range in Sardinia.

The "Ariete" logistic regiment also participated, last May, in an important exercise of Civil Protection, organized by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region in the Maniago area, where a rescue operation was simulated following a significant seismic event, collecting the appreciation of the population and of all the local institutions involved.

The department is an honorary citizen of Maniago and, from 2015, of Vajont, for the intervention to rescue the populations struck by the tragedy of the 1963.

In his farewell speech, Colonel Fiore thanked all the staff of the regiment for having supported him well in the course of his command activity and he addressed a special thanks to the representatives of the local institutions for the excellent cooperative relations developed during this period.

In greeting the departing officer, the deputy commander of the "Ariete" brigade, Colonel Massimo Raccampo, who presided over the ceremony, stressed that in his command period the regiment performed well, responding promptly and effectively to the numerous and complex needs he had to face. Subsequently, he wished the new commander of the unit the best fortunes in view of the commitments that awaited him.

The local authorities of the Maniago area, representatives of the police and of the Combat and Weapon Associations attended today's ceremony. There was also the fanfare of the 11th Bersaglieri regiment which enlivened the different phases of the ceremony with music.

At the end the guests were able to watch the extraction and some maneuvers of a wagon Leopard rescue, one of the most significant means used in operations by the department.
