This morning, at the “G. Rossetti" in Rome, headquarters of the logistics support command, the turnover ceremony took place in the position of commander of Health and Veterinary Medicine, between Lieutenant General Massimo Barozzi, who is leaving active service, and Brigadier General Michele Tirico, who takes over.

The ceremony was presided over by the logistics commander of the Army, general of the army corps, Mauro D'Ubaldi and saw the participation of high military and civil authorities.

General D'Ubaldi, in thanking General Barozzi for the precious contribution he provided as commander of Health and Veterinary Medicine, highlighted how his advice, courage and determination were a source of great inspiration for me, in comparisons of the service that our health and veterinary men and women carry out every day for the Armed Forces, inside and outside the national territory.

General Barozzi, in his speech, wanted to express his thanks to all the staff of the Army Health and Veterinary Command for the unconditional availability and extraordinary professionalism demonstrated during the over three years spent as commander. Years characterized by highly demanding challenges, starting from the pandemic crisis, continuing with the transformation of the Military Healthcare with the introduction of the infirmaries and the numerous technical directives in the sectors of forensic and occupational medicine, hygiene, healthcare materials and drugs. Challenges that were faced and overcome with passion, determination and commitment, always achieving levels of excellence and in line with the needs of the Armed Forces.

Finally, General Barozzi extended his best wishes to the incoming commander for all the activities related to carrying out the delicate role of the Army's top health authority.

Located under the Army's logistics command, the Health and Veterinary Command constitutes the central body of the healthcare sector of the Armed Forces. As such, it presides, organizes and controls all the activities carried out by the 21 dependent bodies. It also carries out the management functions of the Veterinary Service, especially in terms of food control and social protection bodies, as well as activities in the zoological field.
