Change in command of Northern Operational Forces

The command changeover ceremony was held today at the reception hall of the unified Army club in Padua, in the presence of the Army Chief of Staff, Army Corps General Pietro Serino. Northern operational forces, between the general of the army corps Salvatore Camporeale and the parigrade Maurizio Riccò.

The event was attended by the highest local authorities including the mayor and president of the province of Padua, Sergio Giordani, the prefect of Padua, Raffaele Grassi and numerous political, military and religious authorities of the area.

The Chief of Staff of the Army, in his speech, highlighted the closeness between the city of Padua, the local community and the Army - "a close relationship between citizens and the Armed Forces that I have felt strong in recent years and as the most significant of the awards that a soldier can receive from his own country" - Continuing his speech, General Serino proudly thanked the men and women of COMFOP Nord for the splendid work done every day in national and international operations.

Gen. ca Camporeale, who had assumed command of Northern operational forces on April 21, 2022, he wanted to greet the command and the city of Padua as follows: “All the work done so far is the result of the constant and coherent application of the precious skills and experience gained in the various fields by the women and men, military and civilian, of the northern operational forces. To all of them, the true soul of this command, goes my deep thanks for their commitment, dedication, passion and constant desire to improve".

COMFOP Nord continued to coordinate the preparation and training activities of the dependent units engaged in operations and exercises, in Italy and abroad, as well as in interventions in the event of natural disasters. Furthermore, he managed the reclamation of the territory from remnants of war and the departments of the "Strade Sicure" operation, which sees the use of the Armed Forces to contribute to the safety of citizens.

​Army corps general Maurizio Riccò, who recently left his post as Army logistics commander, underlined in his greeting “I return today after five years spent in procurement and general support logistics within the operational forces. A return with a professional baggage that I believe is also enriched by the conviction that knowing how to do is, in a context of ever-increasing commitments, a multiplier of resources and that every possible opportunity to train and train must be sought".
