Change in command of the "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade

In recent days, at the "Gandin" barracks, headquarters of the "Grenadiers of Sardinia" brigade command and of the 1st "Grenadiers of Sardinia" regiment, after the deposition of a crown at the monument dedicated to fallen of the brigade, the alternation ceremony took place between Brigadier General Liberato Amadio, who leaves the command of the "Granatieri di Sardegna" brigade and the "Lazio-Abruzzo" grouping, as part of the "Strade Sicure" operation, at the parigrade Giovanni Brafa Musicoro.

Brigadier General Amadio led the “Granatieri” for 18 months, in a period of training, operational and highly representative activities. Among these, the staff of the large elementary unit was engaged, for about 12 months, in the "Safe Roads" operation for public order and safety, in conjunction with and jointly with the Police Forces, mainly in the city of Rome.

The ceremony, presided over by the commander of the Southern Operational Forces, general of the army corps Giuseppenicola Tota, was attended by the Banner of Roma Capitale, decorated with the Gold Medal for Civil Valor and the Medal holder of the National Association "Grenadiers of Sardinia".

The transferring commander, thanking all the men and women of the brigade and of the "Lazio-Abruzzo" grouping, highlighted their professionalism, competence and the reasons that distinguished them, recalling “When I took over the command of the brigade, in my inauguration I said that, if I assimilated my career to a cycling competition in stages, the adventure I was starting would have represented a demanding and exciting uphill stage. As captain of the team I had magnificent wingmen who pulled me towards concrete and ambitious goals ".

The commander of the Southern Operational Forces remarked on the results achieved by the brigade in the last two years, with particular reference to the "Safe Roads" operation in the delicate and complex square of Rome. The ceremony ended with the grenadier's prayer read by the military chaplain of the 2nd “Cengio” grenadier battalion.

General Brafa Musicoro, comes from the General Staff of the Army, will be the 108th commander of the brigade and will have the task of guiding the men and women of the Grenadiers in future training and operational commitments.
