This morning, at the “Crisafulli-Zuccarello” barracks in Messina, the handover ceremony of the command of the “Aosta” mechanized brigade between Brigadier General Maurizio Taffuri and Brigadier General Pasquale Spanò was held, in the presence of the commander of the Southern Operational Forces, Lieutenant General Angelo Michele Ristuccia, and the highest local military, civil and religious authorities.

In his farewell speech, General Taffuri spoke of Aosta's commitment to addressing the Army's new challenges in scenarios characterized by constant evolution and aptitude for innovation, increasingly revealing their multi-domain context with a cyber-centric orientation, an element on which it is necessary to focus. For this reason, it was crucial to dedicate ourselves to the training of dependent units, focusing the effort on adapting the new technologies, which the Armed Forces have, to the needs of the soldier as a point of reference for the entire military organization. This effort to project into the future is based, however, on values of spirit and action, making clear to everyone the objectives and priorities towards which to channel all physical and intellectual energy.

The commander of South Operating Forces of the Army, in his speech, highlighted the important results achieved by the brigade, recognizing the great commitment and professionalism expressed by all the personnel, underlining the importance of training which, combined with motivation and a sense of belonging, are the essential elements for operating effectively in all scenarios.

The “Aosta” brigade is a large unit of the Italian Army equipped with technologically advanced tools and means, always ready to carry out its task ensuring the ability to respond immediately to any crisis situations at home and abroad.
