The flight crews of the 2nd Air Force Regiment of the "Sirio" Army concluded this week a series of activities aimed at maintaining the operational fire and recovery capabilities with a winch, also necessary to guarantee their institutional tasks in favor of the territory and the population.

The flight activity was aimed at the use of the "Bambi Bucket" fire bucket and the rescue winch with which the AB412 and AB212 helicopters of the regiment are equipped, as well as the training of ELIREC (Eli-Recuperator) personnel in force to the department.

Using the necessary personal protective equipment and in compliance with health regulations, the men and women of the 2nd Air Force Regiment of the "Sirio" Army, commanded by Colonel Maurizio Sabbi, conducted training as similar as possible to the real, in view of the next AIB (forest fire) summer campaign and for interventions to safeguard human life in critical situations.

During the more than twenty years since its establishment on the basis of Lamezia Terme (CZ), the 2nd aviation regiment of the "Sirio" Army intervened with numerous flight missions, in the context of the Civil Protection, to help put out the fires throughout southern Italy and safeguarding the country's landscape and environmental heritage, always ensuring valuable support in terms of reconnaissance, transport of personnel and material, search and rescue activities both at sea and on land.

The multiplicity of use of Army Aviation helicopters is one of the prerogatives that characterize the versatility of the Armed Force at the service of the country.
