This morning, the Chief of Staff of the Army, Corps General Pietro Serino, and the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, Corps General Gaetano Zauner, paid the honors to the banners that left the Sacrario delle Bandiere di Roma, to be assigned to the command and tactical support departments of the large units of the Italian Army.

The gen. ca Serino underlined how the conferral of a "new life to some of the most glorious units of the Armed Force" and the assignment of their banners, names and displays to the command and tactical support departments is, in fact, the recognition of the They "essential role for the functionality of the modern Army". Addressing the commanders of the departments he added: "These Flags will return to march at the head of the men and women of your Departments who are ready to inherit their glorious traditions!"

The Army, in fact, in the sign of continuity and by virtue of the ideal bond that binds today's soldiers to the heroes of the past, has decided to assign the insignia and denomination of units suppressed during the various measures for the reorganization of the Armed Force and which have written glorious pages in Italian military history.

The War Flag, or Standard, for the units of the Cavalry, accompanies a military unit both in peacetime and in combat. It is the symbol of the honor of the military unit that guards it and represents its traditions, its history and the memory of its fallen.

The Memorial of the Flags, at the Vittoriano, houses the War Flags of the dissolved departments of the Army, Air Force, Carabinieri and the Armed Corps of the State as well as the Combat Flags of the disarmed units of the Navy since 1935.
