(To Army Majority State)
11/05/23

The blue Basques of the Army Aviation yesterday celebrated the anniversary of the establishment of the Italian Army's flight specialty.

The day began with the laying of a wreath at the War Memorial of the Army Aviation by the commander, division general Andrea Di Stasio, and the president of theNational Aviation Association of the Army (ANAE), General Sergio Buono.

The ceremony, which took place in the hangar of the 28th "Tucano" group at the "Fabbri" airport, was attended by the commander of the Terrestrial Operations e Army Operational Command (COMFOTER COE), army corps general Giovanni Fungo, the local civil, religious and military authorities, the representatives of national industry, the blue Basques on leave from ANAE and the families of the fallen.

General Fungo, greeting the guests and the soldiers deployed, expressed his gratitude to the blue Basques for what they do every day towards the country.

The AVES commander, in thanking those present for the testimony of affection towards the "blue family", underlined how: "We all form a single group at the service of the people and the country" and then addressed a moved thought to the fallen: “I ideally embrace the family members of our blue berets who are no longer with us; I am convinced that the sacrifice of our brothers has served to make the world better, for this reason we will always honor their memory".

At the end of the ceremony, some Army UH-90 and CH-47F helicopters carried out a tactical training act, operating, among other things, the recovery of personnel with the FRIES (Fast Rope Insertion Extraction System) technique.

The AVES is a fundamental component for the Armed Forces since it guarantees terrestrial maneuver from the third dimension. In addition to air support for national and international operations, Army aircraft and crews are used in conjunction with the Civil Protection in the event of public disasters and in emergency interventions to safeguard human life and protect the environment.
