The infrastructural works and construction of the new internal road network at the “Perotti” and “Predieri” barracks in Florence were completed, by the railway engineering regiment of Castelmaggiore (BO). The works were carried out as part of the activities related to the establishment of the Multinational Division-South HQ, based on the “Vittorio Veneto” division command base.
To ratify the conclusion of the works was the cutting of the ribbon by the division general Angelo Michele Ristuccia, commander of the division, who congratulated the regimental commander, Colonel Emilio Giglio, for the high professionalism and competence shown by the staff employed by him.
In particular, the infrastructural works at the “Perotti” barracks, entirely carried out by the engineers of Castelmaggiore, involved the refurbishment of a building used to house offices and accommodation for a pool of about 250 users. The construction work included the demolition and removal of coatings, internal partitions, floors and fixtures, as well as the subsequent restoration of the same, including the reconstruction of the water and electrical systems of the building, in accordance with the most modern regulatory standards. of living comfort and energy saving.
The works carried out at the "Predieri" barracks, on the other hand, allowed the renewal of the internal viability of the installation, seriously affected by the presence of holes, fractures and disruptions, through extraordinary maintenance of about 4 thousand square meters of asphalt road pavement and the related complementary works, such as the installation of wells for collecting rainwater and concrete curbs around the green areas.
The works just completed are part of the competition activities in favor of other bodies of the Italian Army that the railway genius, together with other units of the genius brigade, conducts as "executive body" through the capacity Campalgenio, which allows the own management of infrastructural interventions: from design to assignment, up to the execution of works carried out by military workers, both for the maintenance of infrastructures and for the strengthening / modernization of new buildings.
