19/01/14

At the request of the Prefect of Modena 100 official army students who attend the Military Academy intervened for the bad weather emergency that hit the region.

50 students are involved in setting up a reception center for people who have had to leave their homes at the Mirandola sports hall. The students transported 200 cots, blankets and sheets provided by the Army to the facility.

A further 50 students are working in the Bomporto area, together with civil protection volunteers, to build a barrier of sandbags and prevent the flooding of the town from part of the waters of the Secchia river, overflowing in several points.

The Military Academy of Modena is the only training institute for officers in permanent service of the Army and of the Carabinieri. Students spend two years at the Academy in which they alternate military training and university-level studies.
