09/06/14

First flight to Herat for the "Bramor", a new generation mini Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) experimental system supplied to the Italian contingent in Afghanistan.

The drone was developed to counter the threat of improvised explosive devices, reinforce convoy protection measures along road axes and acquire the information necessary for planning operations on the ground.

The "baptism of the air", whose operative experimentation was entrusted to the military of the "Genio" Task Force, occurred above the airport area of the "Camp Arena" base with a flight lasting 45 minutes at a height of 100 meters high.

The "Bramor" of the army, piloted by personnel of the 41 "Cordenons" regiment, has a wingspan of 2,30 meters, a total weight of just over 4 kilograms and a flight range of about 3 hours.

It can be equipped with a high resolution camera with observation capability through real-time video or with a camera capable of developing three-dimensional map products.

It is the first time that in an operating theater the genius structures have dedicated and integrated UAS systems within their own structure.
