Training in Val d'Oten

At the end of three weeks of intense training, including three overnight stays in the open air, in the alpine scenery of the Val d'Oten, in front of the commander of the Alpine Brigade Julia Brigadier General Alberto Vezzoli, the 7th Alpine Brigade Regiment Julia stationed in Belluno, led the firing assaults at the platoon level.

In the tactical context presented, it was possible to appreciate the commitment and efficiency of an amalgamated department despite the difficulties associated with the COVID-19 emergency. Specifically, during the attack phase, the SAOV (Surveillance and Visual Objective Acquisition) unit placed in altitude domain, in order to better calibrate the fire action in attack, was in turn made the object of enemy fire, and using the techniques of the Mountain Warfare, managed to disengage with a rapid rappelling with the Australian technique.

"Verticality" is one of the cardinal principles that characterizes mountain troops, it is intended as a capacity to live, move and fight in places characterized precisely by high altitudes and overhanging walls and must therefore, as in this case, be exploited on its own benefit.

During the maneuver all the weapons available to the platoon were used, from the 60 mm mortar, to the GLX with 40 mm grenades, to the department weapons (MINIMI and MG) as well as the ARX 160. All in a typically alpine and notoriously unfavorable climatic context.
