It took place at the military sports center of Salboro, the first edition of the COMFOP Nord Trophy, a sporting training activity in which four teams from four departments participated, selected from the two large combat units of the North Operating Forces of the Army, namely the 11th Bersaglieri Regiment, the “Ariete” logistics regiment, the 3rd engineer regiment and the “Genova Cavalleria” regiment (4th).
The purpose of the activity was to allow military personnel to express their athletic skills, to train for prolonged effort and competition, as well as to increase team spirit and esprit de corps.
The participating teams, divided into pairs, competed in the three races foreseen by the Trophy regulations, namely theArmy Training Circuit (a course consisting of several tests, including overcoming artificial obstacles, crossing a simulated fence, dragging and carrying weights, dismantling and assembling weapons), a 4,5 km operational race, with obstacles, to be carried out in combat uniform, with a 10 kg backpack and a long weapon, and a 3,5 km cross-country race, with obstacles, to be carried out in gym clothes.
The team representing the 11th Bersaglieri Regiment won the Trophy thanks to the best score achieved at the end of the challenges, awarded during the closing ceremony by the territorial area commander of COMFOP Nord, Major General Ugo Cillo.
The Trophy, organized by the command North Operating Forces, took place with the support of FIDAS (Italian Federation of Blood Donor Associations) Padua section, which provided its own staff for the control and judging of the competition.
