Mountain training for Army paratroopers

The “Aquila 5/2025” exercise, which saw a platoon of the 186th “Folgore” paratrooper regiment as the protagonist, concluded at the training area of ​​San Giorgio di Brunico (BZ).

The activity, which is part of the broader training and readiness maintenance cycle of the “Folgore” departments, focused on the conduct of offensive, defensive and enabling operations in a highly challenging and compartmentalized mountain environment, in order to verify and increase the operational capabilities of command, control and maneuver in a combat scenario.

Organized by the tactical training center of 2nd level of Brunico, the exercise was divided into two weeks in mode field training exercise between opposing parties, involving the maneuver unit of the 186th regiment and a team made up of personnel from the 6th Alpine Regiment where, in addition to the weapon systems and vehicles in service, to enhance the training realism, the following were used: Integrated Ground Training Systems and blank ammunition.

Numerous objectives were achieved: from planning and conducting reconnaissance through the use of drones, to attacks, roundups and defense of residential areas and command posts. Particular attention was also paid to the management of the treatment of the wounded according to the protocols of the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), thanks to the qualified military rescue personnel included in the operational unit.
