The Military Academy was awarded the XXXI edition of Tournament of Military Academies in which, in addition to the representative of the Modena Academy itself, those of the Naval Academy (Livorno), the Aeronautical Academy (Pozzuoli) and the Guardia di Finanza (Bergamo) participate.
With the victories achieved in basketball and volleyball, and second places in athletics and swimming, the students of the Military Academy and the officers attending the Application School of Turin and of Officers School of the Arma dei Carabinieri, bring the coveted “Challenge” trophy back to Modena for the second consecutive edition.
The event, which takes place every two years, was established in 1967 by the Defense General Staff with the aim of sharing sporting experiences between the various training institutes, thus promoting, right from the early stages of the military training of the officer cadets, profitable relations of mutual knowledge and enrichment between the different Armed Forces through sporting competition understood as an ideal combination of positive technical and character values among which loyalty, the spirit of sacrifice and physical efficiency stand out above all.
More than 300 athletes competed in five different disciplines (athletics, basketball, volleyball, swimming and shooting) which took place at the sports facilities of the Guardia di Finanza Academy in Bergamo.
