Eighty snipers from the “Folgore”, “Sassari”, “Pozzuolo del Friuli”, “Julia” and “Taurinense” brigades of the Italian Army, with elements of the Guardia di Finanza and American, French, Slovenian and Spanish units were the protagonists of the 'Silver Bullet 24' exercise, which concluded at the Pian dell'Alpe shooting range, in Val Chisone.
Nineteen elite teams trained together in precision shooting at over 2000 meters above sea level, as well as combat techniques in an urban environment in the Baudenasca area, in the Pinerolo area.
The activities were organised by the 3rd Alpine Regiment of the "Taurinense" brigade and included operational and precision shooting exercises, both during the day and at night, engaging targets at a distance of over 1000 metres, Mountain Warfare, covert movements at altitude, overcoming vertical obstacles and survival in harsh climatic conditions.
The 'Silver Bullet' was characterised by a combination of training and technology, through the use of precision weapons of various calibres in the mountains and equipped with powerful shooting instruments such as thermal optics, night vision devices, rangefinders and laser pointers.
The exercise provided an opportunity for specialists to share procedures and experiences in an allied international context.
