80th anniversary of Operation Market Garden in the Netherlands

The Paratroopers Brigade thunderbolt participated in the multinational exercise “FALCON LEAP 24”, held in Holland on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Operation “Market Garden”, conducted by the Allies in 1944.

During the activity, tactical and mass air drops were carried out using automatic and controlled opening techniques together with personnel belonging to the various Nations of the so-called “Airborne Community”.

The “FALCON LEAP”, carried out on an annual basis, is an integral part of the cooperation training activities, aimed at raising the levels of interoperability and multinational integration through the exchange of information on airdrop procedures and on the materials supplied to the units. paratroopers of the allied countries.

During the activity, over 1200 paratroopers, coming from 12 different countries, carried out air drops using materials, air vectors and procedures of different nationalities, increasing their skills and, above all, increasing the cohesion and the level of interoperability of the Airborne Community.

The “Folgore” paratrooper brigade is among the tools available to the Army to ensure the ability of the Defense to respond and intervene immediately in crisis and emergency situations that require the deployment, in a short time, of important devices capable of operating in all areas of confrontation.
