3rd meeting of the anti-aircraft gunners

It took place last Friday at the "Santa Barbara" barracks in Sabaudia (LT), headquarters of the Anti-aircraft artillery command (COMACA), the 3rd meeting of anti-aircraft gunners. Promoted by an organizing committee chaired by the reserve division general Paolo Zacchi, former officers and non-commissioned officers of the specialty took part, many belonging to historical departments of the now suppressed anti-aircraft artillery, as well as numerous soldiers in service.

The event was an opportunity to share with those who have served in the specialty the evolution of the Counter-Aircraft Artillery, up to the most modern weapon systems, such as, for example, the recently established antidron component in the ranks of COMACA.

The meeting was attended by numerous representatives of the local municipal administration and the standards of various sections of theNational Artillery Association of Italy (ANArt.I.) To underline the strong link between the generations of counter-aircraft.

The day began on the square of the "Santa Barbara" barracks with the solemn raising of the flag, followed by the laying of a laurel wreath at the War Memorial, in memory of those who gave their lives in the fulfillment of their duty.

Subsequently, in the course of the presentation of a briefing on the evolution and operational and training commitments, the commander of the Counter-Aircraft Artillery, Brigadier General Fabrizio Argiolas, expressed his pride for having had the opportunity and the privilege of hosting the 3rd meeting of the specialty.

During the course of the day the gatherers had the opportunity to visit a static exhibition set up with the weapon systems currently supplied to the specialty, such as the Skyguard - Asp and Stinger for the defense of low and very low altitude (SHORAD / VSHORAD) and SAMP / T (Medium Range Air / Terrestrial Surface) for the defense of medium altitude (SAM) and against ballistic missiles, the command post, fully projectable in operations and modular in based on the needs of use and finally the historical museum of the Counter-Aircraft Artillery. Furthermore, the participants were able to appreciate an operational demonstration of the antidrone systems supplied to the Center of Excellence Counter Mini / Micro Remote Pilot Aircraft (AD3S and Drone Dome) and a stand of the companies in the Defense sector that presented the materials to be introduced in the field of the evolution of the Army's anti-aircraft capabilities (CAMM-ER missile and X-TAR 3D radar).

At the end of the day a commemorative plaque was inaugurated.
