181 ° of the establishment of the army's health service

Yesterday morning, the army medical corps celebrated the 181 anniversary of its establishment, which took place by royal decree in the 1833.

The ceremony, which was held in the main hall of the Transport and Materials School of the Army in Rome, began with the inaugural lecture by the inspector general of military health, Lieutenant General Federico Marmo and continued with a historical reading of the major general (aus) Antonio Santoro entitled "Health on the eve of the Great War", followed by a lecture given by Prof. Giuseppe Ippolito, scientific director of the "L. Spallanzani" national institute for infectious diseases, on "We are ready for threats from infectious agents? ".

After prolusions, the army's chief of staff, general of the army corps Alessandro Montuori, intervened to represent the army chief of staff, highlighting the progress made in the course of history by military health, emphasizing how the delicacy of the financial situation requires the adaptation of the objectives to the availability of resources, a decidedly delicate issue in the healthcare sector recently interested in reductive order reviews in the broader context of the process launched, in this sense, by the armed force.

In highlighting the clear perception of the maximum attention to be paid also to the "business risk in the health field", which directly involves the logistic command as regards the optimization of the structural and technological sector, of the organizational sector and the management of resources human, the army logistic commander recalled the importance of finding suitable forms of synergy and coordination at the inter-force and inter-agency level, emphasizing then the concept of military identity and the fundamental value of good leadership that must succeed in involving young people which are the future of the nation.

The top authority of the logistics area has finally concluded the intervention by thanking the military of every category and degree operating in the health sector and the auxiliary body personnel for their invaluable and irreplaceable contribution and for what has been done and how much will be done in Italy and abroad during participation in various operations and missions.

The ceremony ended with the delivery of the certificates of recognition attributed by the Inspector General of Military Health to military health personnel distinguished for "merits in health activities".
