The ceremony was attended by the commander of the mechanized brigade "Pinerolo", Brigadier General Stefano Del Col, the commander of the 7 °, Colonel Arcangelo Marucci, the mayor of the city of Altamura, dr. Mario Stacca, and numerous representatives of the sections of the Bersaglieri National Association (ANB) of the Puglia region.
As part of the ceremony the monument of the flag raising was inaugurated, wanted, created and donated to the regiment by the "Fanti Fionati" no longer in active service.
The commanders, general Del Col and Colonel Marucci, summarized the essence of the bersagliere: a man dedicated to duty, professional and prepared, ready to sacrifice his life but always with the cheeky and bewitching smile on his lips! The words of the mayor who wanted to underline the relationship established with the "Settimo" and the lively presence in the city of the Bersaglieri are warm and full of enthusiasm.
Significantly the intervention of the regional president of the ANB Puglia, Ferdinando Damiani, who underlined the incomparable work of all the sections, profuse for the realization of the monument; the desire to dare and the abilities of all have allowed us to conceive, create and donate to the house of the 7 ° regiment a tangible sign of the proximity of a generation that is now ahead in time, but always twenty years old in spirit.
During the ceremony a dutiful and moving thought was addressed to the fallen, in particular the major was remembered. Giuseppe La Rosa, who lost his life in an attack in Afghanistan and recently awarded MOVM, already an official in the 7 ° bersaglieri regiment.
With the blaring brass notes of the brass band the performance of the gymnastic essay and the MAM demonstration (Method of Military Self-Defense) closed the evening with the bersaglieristico spirit that continues to be updated in the famous decalogue of father La Marmora.
