14th Fires Support Coordinator and Targeting course

It ended today in Bracciano, at the center Fires & Targeting and Info Ops of the Italian Army (CFTIO), the 14th course Fires Support Coordinator and Targeting.

The aim of the course was to provide the attending officers and non-commissioned officers with the necessary knowledge to operate in the planning, coordination and execution of fire support at brigade level.

In particular, during the three weeks of the course, the process of Joint and Land Targeting in its ways of carrying out in the field of national and multinational commands, from regimental level to large elementary / complex units.

The course is part of the development of a training process, of which it constitutes the first phase of individual training, which will be followed by a collective training phase with the "Medusa" exercise, to finally conclude with the "training on job" at the BORN Headquarters Rapid Deployable Corps - Italy (NRDC-ITA).

During the training activity, theoretical lessons were carried out by both internal and external speakers at the CFTIO, divided into two modules, at the end of which theoretical exams, simulation activities and numerous practical exercises on fire support at brigade level were carried out. and maneuvering regiment, inserted in a "War" scenario.

At the end of the course, the commander of the Artillery, Brigadier General Francesco Principe, underlined how training - intended both as an enhancement of human resources and as a professional investment - constitutes an essential element for the constant growth of the Armed Force.

The center Fires & Targeting and Info Ops of the Italian Army, established in 2011, is responsible for the advanced training of the Armed Force, for which it provides specialized courses in the sector. The center deals with the qualification in the fields of fire support, targeting, aerocooperation, information operations as well as the use of command and control systems for land fire.
Furthermore, the CFTIO is one of the five national centers in charge of "virtual" training recognized and accredited also within NATO.
