It took place this morning, at the Army Non-Official School, the ceremony for the awarding of the rank of marshal to the students of the XXV “Dovere” course.
The ceremony, held in front of the Institute Flag, decorated with the Bronze Medal for Army Valor and the Silver Medal for Civil Merit, was embellished by the presence of the Army Chief of Staff, General of the Army Corps Carmine Masiello.
As is now tradition, the students' families actively participated in the ceremony, placing their rank on the shoulder boards of the new marshals, demonstrating their support for the choice made and their pride in reaching this coveted goal.
The ceremony was also characterized by the passing of the "stick" from the students of the senior course to the young colleagues of the XXVI "Fermezza" course, a symbolic gesture full of meaning, which represents the transmission of values and the sense of belonging, emblem of the bond that unites generations of non-commissioned officers and underlines the importance of cohesion and continuity within the Institute.
General Masiello, during his speech, said – “… Our young people are the inestimable asset for all and the most precious investment for the future of the Institution and the Country… There are no recipes on the shelf for being good commanders! Do not be afraid to change and make mistakes, because this takes oxygen away from innovation and we desperately need innovation not only technological but also cultural. We do not need commanders who worry but commanders who take care! … Be honest and fair! The greater your integrity, the greater your authority and the stronger your personality and charisma… Know how to grow on 'bread and training' and demand that your soldiers be trained! Do not prepare yourselves for the simplest things, because when difficult things arrive you are not ready and you are surprised… Know how to always be young at heart and live each day with the passion with which you have faced these little more than two years! Finally, know how to always be soldiers among soldiers. Do not disappoint me!”.
The event saw the delivery, by the intervening authorities, of the rank of marshal to the students first classified in the merit ranking at the end of the two-year training period, as well as some prizes to particularly deserving attendees, distinguished in the university, military and gymnastic-sporting activities.
Also present were the commander for the Army Training, Specialization and Doctrine, General of the Army Corps Carlo Lamanna and several civil and military authorities. Among these, the mayor Dr. Chiara Frontini, the prefect, Dr. Gennaro Capo, the bishop of the city of Viterbo ser monsignor Francesco Piazza and the rector of the University of Tuscia, prof. Stefano Ubertini.
At the end of the ceremony, the course leader, newly promoted Marshal Giuliano Giambruno, donated the crest of the XXV course to the Chief of Staff of the Army, as a thank you for being present at such an important event in the professional career of each soldier.
A very intense two-year training period has come to an end for the students of the XXV course, who are preparing to attend the specialization phase at the schools/commands of the Armed Forces and Specialties, before being assigned to operational departments throughout Italy.
