The 24 March 1867 happened: in the South America the Des Geneys

r Logistics requirements of the Naval Division of South America it is established to displace in those waters the Des Geneys (1400 t) sailing transport after the transformation in the Arsenale of Genoa into a ship stock materials and fuel; on this occasion the unit will be equipped with a workshop for the repair of steam machines and a small hospital.

The unit under the command of vessel lieutenant Michele Pico with military men (two officers) and civilian workers, 36, will set sail for Montevideo in September.
