20 August 1911: The Navy at large maneuvers with the Army

(To Marina Militare)
20/08/15

Sunday - Two squadrons of airplanes and the airships P.2 and P.3 take part in the great summer maneuvers of the Army that take place until the end of the month in the Monferrato area.

Both of these belong organically to the Army but some planes (four), in spite of their exclusively terrestrial use, are piloted by Navy officers; the two airships are commanded by the lieutenants of Guido Scelsi and Agostino Penco and of the crews, as well as officers of the Army, four Navy officers are part of it.

[According to the new classification for airships (1911) established by the Ministry of War, the airships P (small) are distinguished by a cubature up to 4000 m3]
