Tokyo 2020: the 32nd edition of the Olympic Games closes

With the closing ceremony of the XXXII Olympic Games at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium, the experience of our military athletes in the Land of the Rising Sun comes to an end.

The 129 athletes of the Armed Forces have won a total of 16 medals of which 2 gold, 5 silver and 9 bronze out of the 40 overall won by the Italian delegation.

In particular, the carabinieri Vito Dell'Aquila in Taekwondo and Luigi Busà in kumite - 75 kg - won the Olympic Gold.

The caporal major Diana Bacosi of the Italian Army in Skeet shooting, the VFP4 corporal Lorenzo Zazzeri of the Italian Army in swimming 4x100 freestyle, the 1st airman Manfredi Rizza of the Air Force in the canoe K1 200 meters, the corporal chosen Vanessa Ferrari of the Italian Army in Gymnastics and the 1st Chief Airman Mauro Nespoli of the Air Force in Individual Archery.

Finally, the bronze medal was won by the carabiniere Stefano Oppo in the two pair rowing, the corporal Federico Burdisso of the Italian Army in the 200m butterfly specialty swimming and in the 4x100 medals, the chief corporal Mara Navarria of the Italian Army, the airman head Federica Isola of the Air Force and the appointed Rossella Fiamingo of the Carabinieri in the team sword, the corporal Mirko Zanni of the Italian Army in weightlifting cat. 67 kg, the 1st corporal Odette Giuffrida of the Italian Army in Judo category 52 kg and the chosen constable Arianna Errigo and Martina Batini of the Carabinieri in the Fencing specialty Foil team, the c.le VFP4 Abraham Conyedo Ruano in free wrestling cat. 97 kg, the Air Force Rhythmic Gymnastics athletes Alessia Maurielli, chief airman Martina Centofanti, 1st airman Agnese Duranti, chosen airman Daniela Mogurean and 1st airman Martina Santandrea.

The numerous Olympic medals won by the military athletes of the Armed Forces are a tangible sign of the validity of the sports centers of the Italian Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Carabinieri.
