At the most important sporting event on the international scene, the Italian athletes belonging to the sports groups of the Armed Forces have already won 3 medals, out of the 5 total won by the whole delegation on the second day of competitions.

After the triumph of the carabiniere Vito Dell'Aquila in the men's Taekwondo category -58 kg yesterday, today two Bronze medals arrive: one for the Roman athlete Odetta Giuffrida in the women's Judo category -52 kg; one for Mirko Zanni from Friuli in weightlifting who, lifting a total of 322 KG, marks the new Italian record. Both athletes come from the Olympic Sports Group of the Italian Army.

The Chief of Defense Staff, General Enzo Vecciarelli, on his own behalf and on behalf of all the Armed Forces congratulates the athletes on the prestigious results achieved.

Although with severe limitations due to the Covid19 emergency, this year 129 Armed Forces athletes are competing out of a total of 384 Italians, 1/3 of the total.
A great result that testifies to the commitment made by the Defense in sports training as well as the validity of the Sports Centers of the Italian Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Carabinieri.

The 129 athletes involved in the various disciplines appearing in the Italian delegation are distributed as follows among the 4 Armed Forces:
