The Army triumphs at the European Championships in Yerevan

Four military athletes from the Army's Olympic Sports Center won eleven medals at the European Weightlifting Championships in Yerevan, Armenia last week. The competition includes two exercises, one snatch and one sprint, for each weight category, which award the specialty podiums. The final classification is calculated on the basis of the total weight lifted, adding the best results in the snatch and the clean and jerk, awarding an additional medal.

Corporal Major VFP4 Oscar Reyes Martinez lifting a total of 343 kg (155 kg in the snatch exercise and 188 kg in the clean and clear exercise), wins the gold medal in all the tests conquering the title of European champion in the 81 kg category.

Placements of honor arrived for corporal VFP4 Giulia Imperio who won the silver medal in all the exercises, winning the title of European vice champion in the 49 kg category, and for corporal VFP4 Sergio Massidda who, with the victory in sprint and second place in snatch, wins second place overall in the 61 kg category.

The grd. sc. Mirko Zanni thanks to the gold in the snatch exercise and the fourth place in the sprint, conquers the bronze in the 73 kg category.
