To officially open the new Olympic cycle, which will lead to Tokyo 2020, the North American Championship 470 M class, the first race of the season held last January 16 in Miami (USA); present the Competitive Sports Center of the Navy with 3 athletes.

Excellent performance of the crew made up of the 1st class municipality Giulio Calabrò (bowman) and the 1st class municipality Giacomo Ferrari (helmsman) who, after three days of racing, won the gold medal in front of the crew Austrian and Spanish both present at the Rio 2016 Olympics. Out of nine races disputed, two first places in the first and sixth scheduled races should be highlighted.

At the top of the standings from the start of the competition, the Navy crew was able to control the tension despite the disqualification received for early departure (BFD) at two rounds from the conclusion. Victory is even more important if we consider the young age of the two athletes, both juniors.

In the same weekend of regattas in Miami also raced the 49er class, in which the sub-chief Gianmarco Togni paired with Umberto Crivelli of the Circolo Canottieri Aniene, finished third in the "Midwinter Regatta". In the twelve races disputed, the crew obtained two first and two second places, as it highlights the excellent state of form and bodes well for the continuation of the competitive season.

The next appointment for both crews will be the "World Cup" circuit race, scheduled from 25 to January 29 always in the waters of Biscany Bay, Miami.
