Invictus Games: an irrepressible Italian Team in Orlando

They are not only indomitable, but also hungry: of life, of sport, of revenge and of medals. They are the Italian Team athletes, the 17 flew to Orlando to participate in the second edition of the Invictus Games, the international Paralympic games dedicated to soldiers who have contracted permanent disabilities in service or due to service. Their race is unstoppable: on the second day of competition, Italy can count 10 well medals, 6 golds and 4 bronzes.

The first podiums came in cycling where Colonel Carlo Calcagni won 2 golds: in the time trial and in the endurance race reserved for his category. The third won him in rowing, in the 4 minute race. In the same one the marshal Loreto Di Loreto conquered the third place instead. Three other gold and a bronze in athletics: Domenico Russo, 1 ° corporal, already gold in London in the 2014, climbs the top step in 100 and 200 mt, while Pellegrina Caputo, 1 ° corporal, wins gold in the cast of weight. The winner is Monica Contrafatto, the major corporal chosen to win the bronze in the 100 mt. In the archery team finals, the archers Roberto Punzo, Fabio Tomasulo and Bonaventura Bove gain the third step of the podium, while it is Tomasulo himself, in the individual arc, who wins the bronze at the play-off, the last arrow , against his French opponent.

To support the military on the first day of competition also the Undersecretary of State for Defense, Mr Gioacchino Alfano, who shared with them emotions and satisfactions, and rewarded some foreign athletes.
