Running for a good cause: to fight breast cancer. It is with this spirit that the 20 representatives of the Paratroopers Sports Group Sect. ANPdI of Rome took part in the 15th edition of the Race for the Cure on May XNUMXth, the event organized by Susan G. Komen Italia, a non-profit voluntary organization, under the patronage of the President of the Republic.

More than 65.000 members, three hundred teams and over 5.000 Women in Pink, women who have personally faced breast cancer, a symbol of tenacity and determination today. The route carried out through the streets of the capital is suggestive, passing through the Circus Maximus, the Imperial Forums and the Colosseum and giving rise to a particularly demanding competitive race and a 2 km walk. The aim of the event is noble: with the funds raised by the Race for the Cure 2016, Komen Italia will launch new projects for education, prevention and treatment of breast cancer, which will be added to the 351 already implemented thanks to previous editions.

Excellent results: first to cross the finish line was Francesco Bona (CS Aeronautica Militare) with a time of 15'21 ''. Among the women, the fastest was Federica Dal Ri (CS Army) who ran in 17'01 '', while Ilaria Piscitelli (ASD Cudas) was the best among the "women in pink" with a time of 19 '57' '. They did not stand by to watch the paratroopers, obtaining a 2nd cat podium. PM with Par. Gianluca Salari, a 3rd podium of cat. PM with Par. Alessandro Di Giacomo and a 5th place in the cat. JM with Par. Stefano Rusconi.

A special praise to the Pink sweater Giuliana Barucci (class 1929), sympathizer of the ANPdI Rome Section, which despite its 87 years took part in the event, brilliantly concluding the 2 km.

The National Paratroopers Association of Italy, once again, stands out for social activities that have a great educational importance for all the boys who attend the association.
