Army, cinema and sport

“Cinema meets sport” ended today, an initiative promoted by Agiscuola with the contribution of the Piedmont Region - Department of Sport in collaboration with the Army and which was attended by over 800 students of the local middle and high schools.

After the screening of two classics from the cinematography "Eddie the eagle - the courage of madness" by Dexter Fletcher and "Race - the color of victory" by Stephen Hopkins, the protagonists of various sports disciplines including three soldiers of the Command for Formation and Army Application School told the young viewers about their human and professional experiences.

The first to go on stage at the Ambrosio cinema was Daniela Graglia, the major corporal chosen in the 2000 who took part in the Sydney Olympics, ranking eleventh in the 4x400 relay. Semifinalist at the Indoor World Cup in Lisbon at the Munich European Championships 2002, twenty times Italian champion in the various speed disciplines, is still Record Woman Italian on the distance of the 80 meters outdoor.

Equally interesting was the intervention of a veteran of military sport, 1st Marshal Giuseppe De Venuto, assistant teacher of physical education, technician of the Italian Swimming Federation, swimming coach, water polo technician and life-saving teacher.

The testimony of Colonel Alessandro Albamonte was intense on March 31, 2012 following the opening of an explosive package. Despite the serious consequences on sight, Colonel Albamonte joined the Paralympic Sports Group and in 2014 he represented Italy at the Invictus Games in London in the indoor rowing discipline.

To conclude the event Ivan Gallino, now self-employed with a past as an athlete. Since 2006 he has been part of the Sledge Hockey series "A" team with disabilities, subsequently summoned and selected for the Italian national team. Also busy with the handbike and close to important decisions after recent proposals to convene the Italian National Nordic Ski team.

The regional councilor for sport Giovanni Maria Ferraris, coordinator of the project, in his speech thanked the Army and Agiscuola and underlined: "The project starts from the premise that cinematographic vision is an engaging experience, which allows viewers to identify with the protagonists of the film proposed on the big screen and stimulates them to learn new approaches and behavior patterns. Projecting films that convey the educational messages of sport helps to spread important topics among students such as friendship, loyalty, teamwork, commitment, respect for oneself and others, social redemption, getting involved game, representing an effective tool for the growth of a healthy protagonism and contrast to the phenomena of youthful distress and deviance".
