Double podium for the Navy at the 48th J24 Winter Championship in Anzio and Nettuno

With the last demanding regattas held on 11 and 12 March, characterized by a wind that remained at 15 knots with formed and crossed waves, the curtain fell on the 48th Championship of Anzio and Nettuno, organized by the Circolo della Vela di Rome together with Nettuno YC, the Reale Circolo Canottieri Tevere Remo, the Italian Naval League (Anzio section) and the Sailing Section of the Anzio Navy. With 13 races won out of 19 disputed, it is once again the J24 of the Marina Militare Sports Group ITA-416 "La Superba" (helmed by Ignazio Bonanno, crewed by Simone Scontrino, Alfredo Branciforte, Vincenzo Vano and Francesco Picaro) to win the final victory of this traditional appointment.

“La Superba” also takes home the special UNUCI Anzio-Nettuno J24 Challenge Trophy, established by theNational Union of Discharged Officers of Italy (Section of Anzio-Nettuno), chaired by col. Luciano Baietti and assigned to the first classified J24.

The Navy also conquers the third step of the podium with the J24 ITA-358 "Arpione" of the Sailing Section of Anzio (helmed by Michele Potenza, crewed by Elisabetta Centrone, Caterina Spagnolo, Panfilo Del Beato Corvi and Italo Paulini).

The two Navy crews distinguished themselves in a championship that saw the participation of no less than eighteen boats, with crews of a high technical level.

The Anzio Navy Sailing Section also contributed to the J24 championship with two other boats, Erato and Nuvola, and also fielded the First 36.7 "Cygnus", helmed by Rear Admiral Vito Lacerenza, President of the Sailing Section, in the Offshore Championship of area. 

Next appointment for La Superba and the J24s of the Navy Sailing Section on 18 and 19 March, again in the waters of Anzio and Nettuno, for the second stage of the J24 National Circuit. Wind in the sails for our crews!
