Yesterday evening at the Modigliani Forum in Livorno, "The derby of the stars(tte)", a charity sporting event organized by the Naval Academy, sponsored by the Municipality of Livorno and sponsored by MBDA, was held: a friendly match between the two basketball excellences local, the “Libertas Livorno 1947” and the “Pielle Livorno”.
Along with the professional players of the two teams, athletes from the Naval Academy and the Army, Air Force and Guardia di Finanza academies took to the field.
Not only sport, but also entertainment and entertainment: opening the evening with musical entertainment by the Naval Academy fanfare, a demonstration by the athletes of the “Toscana Disabili Sport” (TDS) association and the intervention of the artists Claudio Marmugi and Stephen Santomauro.
The result ended with a 36-50 for Libertas, but above all solidarity won. Thanks to the generous participation of Livorno citizens and the commitment of local entrepreneurial realities, approximately 4.800 tickets were sold, the proceeds of which will be entirely donated to the social utility associations "Volare without wings", "Autismo Livorno" and "Associazione Italiana Persone Down Livorno” gathered under the name of “In Cammino con noi”.
"The Derby delle Stelle(tte) is an initiative based on the values and spirit of the Navy: a big family that supports everyone and leaves no one behind. The Naval Academy has decided to combine sport, art and local institutions for the benefit of the most fragile categories, once again underlining the depth of its bond with the city of Livorno " said the commander of the Naval Academy, Rear Admiral Lorenzano Di Renzo.
“I want to remember – said the mayor of Livorno Luca Salvetti – that at the Modigliani Forum, in three different sporting events, we hosted more than 20.000 spectators. The first was the Pielle-Libertas derby with 8.000 attendances, the second, again with 8.000 spectators, was the national team match, the third was the Derby delle Stellette, which reached 4.800. These people have shown a big heart and confirmed the sense of solidarity that the city is always able to express, at all times. I thank everyone who organized and who participated in this important and unforgettable evening of sharing and closeness ".
