The fourth shipment of the "Vertical Dreams" project of the Alpine Training Center of Aosta comes alive.

The "Chamlang 2016" expedition, which started in Italy on April 1st, saw the climbers land in Kathmandu (NEP). The two Alpine troops, after carrying out the necessary bureaucratic procedures and visiting the children of the house supported by the "Sanonani" Valle d'Aosta NGO, left by helicopter for Lukla, a small village at 2860 mt, the starting point of the trekking 'approach.

Once the bins with the materials have been prepared, which will arrive by helicopter directly to the base camp in the coming days, the major corporal Marco Farina and the corporal François Cazzanelli left early last Thursday with some sherpas and their material personnel.

The demanding approaching trek, along almost 60 km that develops at important altitudes, as in the overcoming of the Mera La, pass on the glacier at 5400 mt., Has forced the mountaineers to perform more stages, so that acclimatization would take place in regular way and therefore in the most effective way.

The places used as support during the approach were:

  • Lukla
  • Chutang 3550 mt.
  • Thuli Karka 4200 mt.
  • Khote 3500 mt.
  • Khare 5000 mt.
  • Gompa Digma 4600 mt.

Now the two soldiers are at the foot of the north face of the Chamlang (7319 mt) and although the conditions of the massif are not the best, they will try to make some preliminary reconnaissance in order to find the safest line for the ascent of this impressive wall of 2000 mt.
