The awards ceremony took place at the "Villa Chayes" sports center of the Naval Academy of Livorno. Inter Classes Tournament (TIC) which saw students and attending officers compete in the sporting disciplines of sailing, basketball, volleyball, football, swimming, tennis, rowing and athletics.
The TIC represents the Academy's pre-eminent sporting event and for this reason it is experienced by the student brigade with great participation and a healthy competitive spirit. During this year's edition, significant results were achieved, achieved after intense and demanding training in the individual disciplines. In particular, the 3rd class set two new Institute records in the swimming discipline, obtaining a time of 2 minutes, 4 seconds and 5 tenths in the 4X50m relay. mixed (male/female) and the time of 30 seconds and 3 tenths in the 50 meters in the female dolphin.
In this sporting context, the horse riding test also took place at the obstacle course of the equestrian centre, which saw the attendees compete in the L60 precision, B80 and C115 timed show jumping categories.
At the end of the athletics competitions, given the results achieved in the individual sports by the Classes, the commanding admiral, Rear Admiral Lorenzano Di Renzo, handed over to the course leader of the 3rd case, aspiring midshipman Matteo Sanmorì, the Inter Classes Trophy to sporting and maritime merit in memory of the fallen of Monte Serra for the 2023/2024 academic year.
Sports competitions between classes, in addition to representing an important opportunity to verify the level of physical preparation acquired during the entire Academic Year, contribute, from the early stages of military training, to developing healthy competitive spirit, effectively increasing the sense of belonging and sharing the values and traditions of the Institute.
Sport has therefore been one of the cornerstones of the Naval Academy's training since its foundation and its practice facilitates the process of moral, human and professional growth of each individual student.
