The commander of the Arma meets a representation of athletes

The general commander of the Carabinieri Corps Tullio Del Sette met this morning the athletes of the Carabinieri Sports Center who distinguished themselves in the various disciplines in the first months of the 2015.

During the meeting, which took place in the Representation Room of the General Command of the Carabinieri in the presence of the top management of the Arma, representatives of the representative bodies of the Arma, the Commander of the Carabinieri Sports Center and the respective Section Commanders, General Del Sette expressed to the participants his satisfaction for the flattering results obtained, the result of a training made of sacrifice, discipline and passion, those same values ​​that animate the daily action of the Carabinieri, in every district of Italy, as well as outside national borders.

During the ceremony, the commander-in-chief gave a reminder:

- to the app. sc. Stefano Brecciaroli, Equestrian Sports Section, winner of the Silver and Bronze Medals at the International Riding Competition in the “Complete” specialty held in Hungary;

- to the app. Arianna Errigo and al Car. Sc. Andrea Cassarà, Fencing Section, for having won at the European Fencing Championship held in Switzerland, the Gold Medal and the title of "European Champion" for teams, as well as the individual Bronze Medal, the first, and the Medal of 'Gold and the title of individual “European Champion”, the second;

- to car. sc. Stefano La Rosa, Athletics Section, winner of the Team Gold Medal at the “10.000 meters” European Cup held in Cagliari;

- to the car. sc. Riccardo De Luca and Pier Paolo Petroni, Modern Pentathlon and Triathlon Section, for having won, respectively, the Gold and Bronze medals at the “Modern Pentathlon” World Cup final held in Belarus;

- to car. Luca Pizzini, Swimming Section, winner of the Silver Medal in the "200 meters breaststroke" at the Italian International Swimming Trophy "Sette Colli" held in Rome.

The Carabinieri Sports Center, established in 1964, is divided into 10 sections: Athletics (Bologna), Fencing, Judò, Karate, Modern Pentathlon, Shooting and Riding (Rome), Winter Sports (Selva di Val Gardena), Swimming ( Naples), Parachuting Sports (Livorno).

In the 2014 the General Staff of Defense has created a section of "Promotion and Development of Sports Activity for Disabled Defense Personnel". The project is aimed at the soldiers registered in the Role of Honor and partially eligible for unconditional military service, suffering from disability (even not due to service) due to the Paralympic categories.
