At the Naqoura heliport, the handover between the commander of the 58th Task Group took place Italair, Lieutenant Colonel Luciano Starace and his peer Francesco Persichetti.
The ceremony was held in the presence of the commander of the Task Force, Colonel Giuliano Innecco who expressed great satisfaction for the work carried out and for the contribution provided for the maintenance of peace and security in South Lebanon, confirming the tradition of excellence that has been accompanying ITALAIR for the past 43 years, underlining the key role played by the mission's veteran unit in carrying out the various tasks of UNIFIL.
Since August 2022, the 6 AB 212 twin-engine helicopters have provided 24/24 air support to UNIFIL, performing approximately 7 flight hours, including transport, reconnaissance and patrol activities along the Blue Line, as well as having successfully completed 6 emergency medical evacuations in favor of the military personnel of the international contingent.
The flight component of Italair, the 58th Task Group, in operation since last August, is made up of personnel, crews, maintainers and firefighters, coming from the Air Force of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force.
Since February 2008, the 2nd Army Aviation Regiment "SIRIO" has been the flight unit in charge of feeding the Lebanese Theater of Operations.
