The first planning phase of the NATO Steadfast Jackal 2021 exercise has been completed

The first phase of the NATO exercise "Steadfast Jackal 2021" scheduled to take place in the last part of the year ended today at the Predieri barracks in Florence, headquarters of the “Vittorio Veneto” division command.

The training event, which took place in full compliance with the rules for containing and contrasting the current pandemic situation, saw the Florentine command part of the wider planning process developed by the Rapid Reaction Army Corps Command (NRDC -ITA) of NATO in Italy.

In particular, the trained personnel belonging to the NATO being set up Multinational Division South HQ (MND-S), carried out, in its first phase, a two-week planning activity built on a complex and highly realistic scenario, able to replicate the more complex and delicate aspects typical of modern management operations crisis.

Later, in the second stage, the so-called Operation Concept (CONOPS) which will be followed directly by the issue of a Order of Operation (OPORD) in May.

The development of planning skills in the role of Land Tactical Element integrated in a Joint Command is an initial training goal aimed at achieving the conditions prodromal to Initial Operational Capability (IOC).

Furthermore, throughout the planning process, the infrastructural and satellite RIFON network connections with NRDC-ITA HQ were successfully established thanks to the support provided by the personnel of the 1st Milan broadcasting regiment.

Participation in the "Jackal 2021" represented a unique training opportunity for the staff of the "Vittorio Veneto", a modern, fully operational reality, which also has the task of exercising command and control of the training and preparation activities of the four brigades and dependent units in order to ensure the level of readiness assigned, to respect the planned operational and training commitments and to carry out further tasks not previously planned.
