The intense training activity carried out by the Italian contingent of UNIFIL, currently based on the Ariete brigade, continues for the military of the Lebanese armed forces (LAF).

In recent days, the blue helmets have organized and conducted, at the headquarters of the Joint Task Force Lebanon of Shama, a course of Basic Life Support (BLS) which was attended by thirty-two soldiers of the LAF. In particular, the personnel trained on the procedures to be adopted, among other things, in situations of cardio-pulmonary arrest, traumas caused by road accidents or explosion of ordnance and gunfire wounds.

The BLS course is part of the training program prepared by the Italian contingent for the benefit of the Lebanese military, a program that also includes courses on techniques for crowd control (Anti Riot and Crowd Control Techniques), on the recognition of bombs and mines (UXO and Mines Awareness ) as well as on the conduct of operational activities.Support to the Lebanese armed forces is one of the main tasks assigned to the UNIFIL contingent by United Nations Resolution 1701, together with monitoring the cessation of hostilities and assistance to the local population, activities for which the soldiers of the Ariete brigade have long prepared themselves at home and carry out here with professionalism, transparency and impartiality.
