In recent days it took place at theInternational Campus (IC) Mogadishu - Somalia, the change of command ceremony of theItalian National Contingent Commmand in support of European Training Mission - Somalia (EUTM-S), between Lieutenant Colonel Michele Giacalone, transferring commander and Lieutenant Colonel Domenico Di Carluccio, taking over.
The ceremony was presided over by His Excellency the Ambassador of Italy to the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Alberto Vecchi, accompanied by the EUTM-S mission force commander, Brigadier General Roberto Viglietta, as well as supported by the participation of numerous Somali civil and military authorities, and of the international organizations present in the Horn of Africa country.
The activity of the national contingent is characterized by a constant and punctual commitment to ensure Italian security and logistic support for the EUTM-S mission. Also noteworthy is the activity of Civil and Military Cooperation breakthrough of the Italian contingent, in order to participate in the proximity and improve the spirit of collaboration in support of the local authorities and the population of the capital Mogadishu and the implied Banaadir region.
There are numerous "Quick Impact Projects" carried out in various sectors, with the supply of goods and services to the "De Martino" hospital in Mogadishu; minor maintenance work on premises in some government districts; the renovation works of an orphanage in the Somali capital; the food sector through the supply of foodstuffs to the most needy families of some districts in concert with the local authorities.
