Somalia: the 10 ^ Italian training mission has begun

With the arrival in Djibouti of 208 members, including four women of the Somaly Police Forces - SPF - the Italian bilateral Training Mission, the MIADIT Somalia, now in its tenth edition, officially started.

The mission born from bilateral agreements Italy-Somalia, Italy-Djibouti, entrusted to a team of military specialists from the Carabinieri, under the command of Colonel Giglio Vincenzo, aims to create the conditions for the stabilization of Somalia and entire Region of the Horn of Africa, through the increase of the operational capabilities of the SPF and the improvement of bilateral relations with the Republic of Djibouti, through the training of the Djiboutian Police Forces.

The training cycle is carried out at the structures of the Police Academy and the Gibutian Gendarmerie, near the Italian Military Support Base, and includes both theoretical and practical lessons in various sectors, such as investigative techniques, environmental protection, anti-terrorism , with instructors from highly specialized departments of the Carabinieri such as GIS (Special Intervention Group) the 1st "Tuscania" paratroopers rgt, the RACIS (Carabinieri Investigazioni Scientifiche Group) the ROS (Special Operational Group) the NOE (Ecological Operational Nucleus ) and the TPC (Artistic Heritage Protection). To date, around 1500 Somali and 850 Djiboutian policemen have been trained.
