The wounded soldiers were immediately transported to the "Role 2" field health care facility of the Italian military base in Herat and then evacuated (MEDEVAC) to the "Role 3" health facility of the US military base in Bagram.

At the moment the Italian Periodic Train Advise Assist (PTAA) that develop "at home" the training and assistance activities in favor of the Afghan security forces in the remote areas of the West Region of Afghanistan are not present in the Shindand area.

Italy has granted its support to NATO and the Republic of Afghanistan and in this context the Train Advise Assist Command West (TAAC W) continues its training, assistance and consultancy activities for local institutions and local security forces. in the West Region.

The area of ​​Italian responsibility in which the TAAC-W operates is a large region of western Afghanistan (as large as northern Italy) which includes the four provinces of Herat, Badghis, Ghowr and Farah.
