Present were the deputy commander of UNIFIL, brigadier general Patrick Phelan, the commander of the Joint Task Force Lebanon, brigadier general Maurizio Riccò, the commander of the 5th brigade of the Lebanese armed forces, brigadier general Afif Saleh and other military authorities.
This activity, conceived and developed in order to train the forces involved in maintaining high levels of readiness and ability in responding effectively to unforeseen events, saw the involvement of all the reserves of the battalions of the various contingents.
The units, working in synergy, have expanded their capacity for cooperation, coordination and interoperability, mainly through the conduct of crowd control operations (CRC - Crowd and Riot Control).
General Riccò - expressed his satisfaction with the full success of the exercise and remarked how, in an operational scenario such as that of South Lebanon, the conduct of joint operations on the ground and the involvement of all the units of Sector West constitutes a further basis for coordinating, at all levels, with the Lebanese armed forces.
The joint activities, one of the most important tasks on which the UNIFIL blue helmets are concentrating, constitute, with the training of the Lebanese armed forces, one of the pillars of the mission: to create the amalgam between the blue helmet and the colleague of the "Land of the cedars".
