Niger: anti-cholera drugs for the population

The ceremony for the delivery to the Nigerian civil authorities of about seven tons of drugs, medical aids and equipment for purification, collection and distribution of drinking water donated by the Italian state took place today at the Niamey Air Base in Niger. through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (procurement from the UN depot in Brindisi) and transported with a C 130J military aircraft. This material was donated following a request for health support expressed by the Ministry of Public Health of Niger in order to combat the cholera epidemic that is afflicting the Maradi region. In addition, materials for medical use were donated to the Ministry of Defense.

The ceremony, organized by the Italian embassy and the military personnel of the Bilateral Support Mission in the Republic of Niger (MISIN), was attended by the Minister of Public Health, Illiassou Idi Mainassara, and other Nigerian civil and military authorities, the Commissioner of Affairs of the embassy, ​​Angelo Petruccio, and the commander of the Mission, gen.b. Antonio Maggi.

The Minister of Public Health, Illiassou Idi Mainassara, during the live speech on Tele Sahel took the opportunity to thank the Italian government for having contributed with this donation to ensure specific health treatment for the population.

Thanks to this donation, coordinated by MISIN, it will be possible to provide basic care for thousands of people, as well as a specific health treatment for populations affected by the cholera epidemic.
