With the passage of the MISIN flag from air brigadier general Marco Lant to air brigadier general Maurizio D'Andrea, the handover and command of the bilateral support mission in the Republic of Niger (MISIN) was sanctioned. The ceremony that took place on 12 September 2020 in the presence of the ambassador of Italy in Niger Marco Prencipe took place in full compliance with the measures envisaged to avoid infections from Covid19.

After eight months of command, General Lant wanted to thank the Italian and foreign personnel present on the BA101 base, and then underlined how: "even though MISIN is still a relatively small mission, it is part of an extremely complex context. The Sahelian area is strategic as the events that take place here generate effects that reverberate across the Mediterranean to our country".

Words that were subsequently confirmed by the Italian ambassador Marco Prencipe who, in addition to highlighting the work of General Lant and MISIN staff in this area of the African continent, wanted to underline the absolute need for the various branches of the state to work in synergy between them by applying the concept of the country system.
