Ship Martinengo returns to Taranto after its commitment in Operation Safe Mediterranean

The frigate Federico Martinengo returned to the naval station Great Sea of Taranto after more than 2 months of activity. The Italian frigate participated in theOperation Safe Mediterranean as flagship during the 17th rotation to protect and safeguard national interests in the Eastern Mediterranean.

During the period of assignment to the OMS device, the Unit conducted several training activities, many of these with allied assets, also engaged in the area of ​​operation. Among these, the multinational exercise EUNOMIA-24 should be mentioned, in which the French, Greek and Cypriot Navies also participated, in the waters off Cyprus, excellent training opportunities to improve interoperability and cooperation in the international arena.

The presence of a national structure in the Eastern Mediterranean is essential, given the ongoing crisis between Israel and Lebanon. The operation has allowed us to give concrete proof of Italy's presence and leadership in the Mediterranean, with a constant commitment to defending the interests that must be preserved and safeguarded in light of the growing tensions that reverberate in this basin.
